Dr. Lada Rasochova is the founder and CEO of Dermala Inc. She spent more than 15 years in biotech & pharma industry where she held various leadership positions, including as the director of new business development and R&D leader of vaccine technologies in the Dowpharma division of the Dow Chemical Company. In Dowpharma, she he built & managed the human vaccine business unit, and led the development of novel vaccines, immunotherapeutics and microbial expression platform (which was spun out into Pfenex Inc). Prior to Dow, she was with Mycogen, a biotechnology startup that was acquired by Dow Chemical for $1B+. Lada came back to academia and joined the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego in 2009 with the goal to increase commercialization outcomes through mentorship, education, & training. She founded the California Institute for Innovation and Development (CIID) that serves as an entrepreneurship hub, the Rady Venture Fund, a VC fund that invests in early stage technology companies and where she is the managing director, StartR accelerator that provides support to emerging startups, and award winning mystartupXX accelerator that supports the next generation of female founders & female-led technology startups. As a result, more than 150 companies were founded by the Rady School students & alumni to date. Lada is the recipient of numerous awards including most recently the Athena Pinnacle Award (2014), Most Innovative Thinkers award (2016), the San Diego 500 Influential Business Leaders awards (2017), and the San Diego Woman of the Year finalist award (2017). Lada is a scientist by training as well as experienced business executive. She founded Dermala because of her passion for translating scientific discoveries to market to improve lives of millions of people around the world.

Her father, similarly, made the journey to America from China to expand his computer literacy school, in the process immigrating the family and the then 12-year-old Ming to the US.

She has also worked at PIMCO on macro investment; the Federal Reserve on capital market regulation; and Morgan Stanley on institutional sales and portfolio construction with major central banks and sovereign wealth funds.

Siqi received her MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business; MPA from Harvard Kennedy School (Lawrence Summers was her thesis advisor); and BA in economics from Stanford University (elected Phi Beta Kappa).

Siqi is a concert pianist, playing and performing for over 20 years, and for four years serving as the Stanford Symphony Orchestra’s principal pianist. Siqi currently volunteers as a music ambassador for Carnegie Hall.
