“It was really nice to hear others talk about their strategies and what they are doing in their companies to use technology to better enhance the resident experience at the community level. Events like this give me hope that we will be able to overcome some of the current challenges by working together as an industry and sharing our ideas and experiences.”

Jason Tijsseling Vice President - Information Technology, Leisure care

Why Attend

In the past many senior care and housing providers have not had the risk appetite to drive digital transformation and adopt new technologies within their business. The pandemic has forced the hand of many risk adverse boards and executives to see the business-critical role technology, and the data it generates can play in facing this monumental disruption to normal operating models.

Now is the time for senior care executives to take a step back, assess what technology is right for their current and future business needs and build a strategic roadmap for how to get there.

The Senior Living Transformation:Technology Leaders virtual series will provide you with  practical workshops, interactive roundtables and executive panels. Each individual session has been designed in response to feedback from the leaders in the senior care industry.

This March we will be tackling how to:

  • Determine the right connectivity and infrastructure required to adapt to the ‘new normal’
  • Implement and maximize resident experience technology
  • Leverage sales and marketing technology & lead digital transformation
  • Build and execute an IT roadmap and strategy
  • Pilot and implement a successful innovation and technology pilot program

This series is perfect for executives ready to build and execute a strategic IT roadmap at their organization and who are determining the priority areas for their budget.

Many C-level executives are turning their attention to digital transformation as the pandemic has only accelerated the need for integrated technology that can evolve with the business as it goes through monumental disruption.

Holiday Retirement, the largest provider of independent living in the US, has set itself apart as a thought leader and industry trailblazer in this area, making investments into resident experience technology that will deliver new and important value to their residents, staff and business.

In this conversation, Shawn Richard, Vice President of Resident Experience at Holiday Retirement, and Geert Houben, CEO of Cubigo, share with us the challenges and opportunities involved in bringing a legacy organization into the digital era.

Join us to unpack:

  1. The drivers and benefits to the resident, family and business of investing in an integrated resident experience platform
  2. The vision for Holiday Retirement to grow as an organization with data and information (business intelligence) at the core
  3. What the data-driven movement means for the entire senior care industry
  4. The importance of effective change management in leading a digital transformation

INVESTING IN THE RIGHT TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS TO BE READY FOR THE ‘NEW NORMAL'

Day One – Monday 22 March 12.30 -14.00 EST

EXECUTIVE PANEL AND ROUNDTABLE

During the COVID-19 crisis many senior living providers realised their technology infrastructure was inadequate to cope with new ways of communicating safely through video. However, an investment in infrastructure and enterprise systems is a big decision and you want to be sure that whatever you buy is cost-effective, future proof and complements your legacy systems. In this session you’ll benefit from the expertise of five senior living CIOs as they share their experiences, challenges and successes.

Following the panel discussion make the most of the opportunity to share your views and challenges with your peers as we break out into smaller round table discussion groups for 30 minutes.

PANEL AND ROUNDTABLE: IMPROVING THE RESIDENT EXPERIENCE

Day Two – Tuesday 23 March 12.30 -14.00 EST

Innovative senior living organizations, like Benchmark and Watermark Senior Living, are discovering how technology can improve the care experience for residents, families, and staff. In the midst of the pandemic, technology became an essential tool to ensure critical factors like safety, wellness, social connection were maintained.

But any great transformation comes with its hurdles. In this session leading operators and innovators will unpack what needs to happen for senior living to truly maximize the technology transformation ahead and will troubleshoot the biggest roadblocks to success for operators such as:

  • Overcoming technology fears by building the business case for resident experience investment
  • Understanding what data can be collected to understand and improve a resident’s quality of life
  • Navigating implementation challenges to ensure roll out success

Learn about these essential tools to maximize resident experience technology:

  • Define your desired business goals and map a strategy to get there
  • Measure the ROI of investing in resident experience
  • Take a person-centred approach to programming
  • Reimagine social connectivity to tackle social isolation
  • Connect IT with the business to ensure successful adoption

Following the panel discussion make the most of the opportunity to share your views and challenges with your peers as we break out into smaller round table discussion groups for 30 minutes.

ALL ABOUT SALES: METHODOLOGY, TECHNOLOGY AND DATA

Day Three – Wednesday 24 March 12.30 - 14.00 EST

Senior living sales and marketing strategies have been completely disrupted by the pandemic. With events, tours, luncheons, and stayovers being no longer possible in the COVID-era, now is the perfect time to take a step back and reimagine your current sales strategy. How can you sell effectively in this difficult and disrupted market? Should you adapt to a new sales approach for the long term?

In this session we will walk you through:

  • The essential elements of an effective sales strategy that are vital for a thriving community
  • How we can be better at converting our prospects to residents, even during the pandemic
  • What some of the tools and strategies are that can help us along the way

What you will learn:

  • Why focusing on the prospect (not the product) will ultimately lead to more move-ins
  • The difference between marketing and selling: Cultivating your existing leads will increase sales conversions
  • The importance of investing in direct selling time and how to use that time, with data from best performers
  • Redefining CRM as a system of engagement versus only a data recording tool

Following this session make the most of the opportunity to share your views and challenges with your peers as we break out into smaller round table discussion groups for 30 minutes.

INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP: BUILDING & EXECUTING AN IT ROADMAP & STRATEGY

Day Four – Monday 29 March 12:30 - 14:00 EST

One response senior living had to the COVID-19 pandemic was to adopt technology rapidly. This accelerated application highlighted the critical need to align senior living business strategy to a corresponding technology strategy for today and the future.

To ensure your organization is equipped with the framework and tools to integrate business and technology strategies and support innovation, some fundamental areas need to be understood and considered:

  • Best practices to develop and govern a forward-looking senior living business strategy
  • How to develop an aligned and complementary technology strategy to overlay and accelerate your business strategy
  • How to integrate the two strategies and execute and deliver the desired value

This session will give you workable frameworks to:

  • Build a strong technology strategy that keeps your business relevant in the future
  • Focus on the highest priorities and keep organizations on track to achieve enterprise goals over a three to five-year window
  • Develop technology capabilities that align with the business and interact at the strategic level
  • Common success factors for executing the parallel strategies
  • How to integrate the teams to build technology into the DNA of your organization

During this session make the most of the opportunity to interact with your peers online and discuss common challenges and solutions.

The sessions taking place on days 4, 5, and 6 of the summit will be chaired by David Sawyer, CEO/Founder of TSO Life.

TECHNOLOGY EXECUTIVE ROUNDTABLE: WHAT DOES THE FUTURE LOOK LIKE FOR TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION IN SENIOR CARE?

Day Five – Tuesday 30 March 12:30 - 14:00 EST

It has been a monumentally difficult year for senior living executives. Priorities have shifted and budgets have been redirected into essential services such as PPE and vaccine roll out efforts. Some technology adoption has been accelerated, whilst other initiatives were put on the back bench.

In response to the pandemic many providers took a reactive, siloed and short-term view of technology adoption. Now, leading C-level technology executives are working to steer the ship and bring the business back to a much needed long-term strategic, corporate level view of technology adoption.

In this session we will ask leading technology focused executives what they think are the greatest barriers and opportunities for senior care digital transformation. Don’t miss this opportunity to ask your burning questions of your panel of CEOs, CIOs and thought leaders and find out where they believe your sector is headed.

Following this session make the most of the opportunity to share your views and challenges with your peers as we break out into smaller round table discussion groups for 30 minutes.

Leveraging your digital assets to improve the quality of life for your residents

While best intentions and knowledge at the corporate level craft well-suited programs, the most effective programs originate from research and collaboration with residents, staff, families, and prospects.

When staff and residents are involved in creating a program or approach; interest, adoption and sustainability are remarkably higher. Successful programming is not just about a satisfaction score, rather quality of life beyond the basics of food, shelter, and an expected level of care. If data collection is aimed to note participation of categorized activities, this is only one piece of the puzzle behind effectively measuring engagement.

Sara is widely known and respected in the industry. Sara is an Eden Alternative Associate, Certified Dementia Practitioner, and FallProof certified. She presents at national conferences, pens articles in notable publications, and serves on various advisory boards.
