Highlighting innovation across the petcare space is at the core of this event. Two innovation showcases will allow 12 emerging brands to present on our virtual main stage. Finalists will be hand-picked by our prestigious Selection Committees, with 6 Pet Health and 6 Consumer brands selected.
The two categories are split as follows:
Pet Health & Tech, includes pharmaceuticals, wearables, telemedicine solutions, insurance, supplements and nutrition, and flea & tick treatments.
Consumer Products and Services, includes food, treats, pet accessories, services for pet owners, and retail.
Finalists will have the chance to showcase their brand through a virtual booth, including a recorded presentation. There will then be a live audience Q&A for our virtual room of seasoned strategic M&A scouts, venture capital and private equity investors.

As a former operator, she’s a hands-on investor that enjoys supporting portfolio companies on hiring, growth and product roadmaps.

Barry Brackner
Barry is a strategy consultant to the pharma, welfare, retail, tech and veterinary profession having previously held senior executive roles within the veterinary profession most recently an executive board role at CVS as Marketing and Commercial Director, the largest PLC veterinary group in Europe, a role which involved him developing and delivering marketing strategies for the organisation and its member practices and honing its commercial operations. This role saw him supporting growth and the integration of over 300 veterinary practices, crematoria, out of hours clinics and multi-disciplinary hospitals and bringing to market a number of own label prescription and non-prescription products.

Peter is an experienced retailer with over 30 years’ experience having worked for M&S, Sainsbury’s, Iceland, ASDA and Wilkinson Hardware Stores. Peter is now Group CEO of Pets at Home Group PLC appointed in 2018. He has been with the retailer since 2011 initially as Commercial Director then COO & more recently Retail CEO.
Dr. Jamie Crittall
Jamie qualified from Bristol Vet School in 1993. He owns two separate UK veterinary practices – one, a family-owned 147-year old multi-branch practice and the other, a 9-year old start-up (which he subsequently sold in December 2018), as well as global healthcare compliance technology company, Virtual Recall.
Co-Founded with fellow veterinarian, Charlie Barton, as a result of their vision to enhance the intimate bond between all owners & their animals. They help vets create more valued customer experiences and drive improved business performance, to deliver better health and financial outcomes. They currently have their patent-pending, communication solution, iRecall® installed in over 1750 practices across three continents. It enables practices to send their clients their own bespoke messages, completely automatically, ensuring every animal and every client receive the appropriate communication - including immediate feedback - every time.

Virtual Recall was acquired by Zoetis in July 2020, and Jamie is now Senior Commercial Director within within Zoetis’ newly-formed Digital Practice Services Business Unit.
Jamie also has an all-encompassing knowledge and love for the media, being vet on set for film, tv & commercials for twenty plus years and a 5-year sabbatical in British television. He appeared regularly as a vet on The Big Breakfast; Sky News; BBC1’s The Really Useful Show, and latterly, co-presenting Pet Rescue’s spin off series, Pet Rescuers and Pet Rescue Roadshow. He has radio broadcast countrywide and is a regular speaker at UK veterinary business, technology and marketing seminars, conferences and events. Jamie is a Trustee of the Petplan Charitable Trust. Married with three children and a menagerie of pets and he can often be found mountain biking around the Surrey Hills.
Daniella Dos Santos
Daniella obtained a BSc (hons) in Molecular Genetics from Kings College London in 2007, before going to study veterinary medicine at the RVC, qualifying in 2012. Since then she has been in first opinion small animal and exotic animal practice and is currently working towards her CertAVP zoological medicine. She became a member of the BVA Ethics and Welfare Advisory Panel in 2015, and became Chair in 2017. She also became a Trustee of the Animal Welfare Foundation in 2016.

Richard Butterwick is Global Nutrition Advisor for Mars Petcare, based at the WALTHAM Petcare Science Institute, UK. Richard obtained his PhD in 1990 from research on the metabolic and nutritional consequences of growth hormone treatment in dairy cows. In 1991 Richard joined the WALTHAM Centre for Pet Nutrition and has led a number of research programmes, covering a broad spectrum of nutritional areas in dogs and cats, including energy requirements, obesity, digestive function, probiotics, growth, oral health and clinical nutrition. Richard has published widely in the field of dog and cat nutrition and is a member of a number of professional bodies.
Richard shares his passion for pets with his wife Sarah, three children and Norman the Lurcher.
Yemi Adesokan
Yemi Adesokan is Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder at Gnubiotics SA, a Lausanne, Switzerland biotech company pioneering the development of Human Milk Oligosacchrides (HMOs) for infants and adults as well as Animal Milk Oligosaccharides (AMOs) for companion animals. Yemi has been recognized for his innovative and pioneering work with awards such as the Boston Business Journal 40 under 40 award and the MIT Technology Review’s annual list of 35 top global innovators under the age of 35 TR35. Yemi has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Genetics with George Church at Harvard Medical School.

A 2008 University of Bristol veterinary graduate with a First Class intercalated degree in veterinary pathology from the Royal Veterinary College, Justine has over 12 years’ experience in zoo medicine, small animal practice and mixed practice in Oxfordshire, London and Hampshire, as well as internationally. In 2014, she completed a Master’s degree in Wild Animal Health from the Royal Veterinary College and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL). Since 2015, Justine has worked as the Veterinary Services Manager at Marwell Zoo in Hampshire. Alongside her veterinary and conservation work, Dr Shotton also works as a small animal and emergency veterinary locum.

Stephen Barabas is a graduate of Glasgow University. He is an Honorary Laser Consultant at St Thomas and Guy’s Hospital in London. He runs two companies: a human medical company, K-Laser UK Ltd, working with the NHS, sports franchises and private healthcare using Class IV K-Laser therapy (treating diabetic wounds, acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain syndromes). VBS Direct, providing innovative equipment to vet practices and animal rehab specialists. He lectures and continues to set up research projects to improve our techniques and medical equipment to improve quality of healing and pain management.
Rich Kelleman
Rich is the Co-Founder and CEO of Bond Pet Foods, a Boulder, Colorado-based start-up that’s working with biotechnology to make pet food from pure microbial and recombinant animal proteins like chicken, turkey and fish, without the animal. Before diving into the world of pets and food tech, Rich was a strategic planner at a number of advertising agencies for more than 20 years including CP+B, Upshot, FCB and Fallon, where he lead brand strategy for brands like Burger King, P&G, Kellogg’s, and Coca-Cola

Jolyon is a co-founder of PetMedix, whose Ky9 platform is based on his PhD work in the lab of prof Allan Bradley (co-founder and CSO of PetMedix). Jolyon heads up Business Development for PetMedix, and is looking to speak to fellow members of the animal health industry about areas of common interest, including partnership opportunities.
James Andrews
James is a qualified vet, entrepreneur and strategy consultant. Currently, James is a co-founder of Felcana – a leading veterinary telehealth innovator focused on cats and dogs – and a Non-Executive Director of National Milk Records Plc. Prior to founding Felcana, James was a strategy consultant at Bain & Company and spent a year in France studying for an MBA at INSEAD.

Scout Bio’s CEO, Mark Heffernan, has nearly two decades of experience in human biotechnology start-ups and animal health R&D. As a founding partner and CEO, Heffernan has raised over $150,000,000 in private and public capital raisings and built successful global teams to execute drug discovery and development, including Nexvet Biopharma, which was sold to Zoetis in July 2017.
